What is required to use the ClearPlay Home Entertainment System?

If you would like to watch your films with ClearPlay, you need the following:

ClearPlay enabled DVD Player that links to a television; you can buy at retailers and e-tailers. Click here
ClearPlay Filter for your DVD film which you can access as a ClearPlay Club Member
A ClearPlay FilterStik™ or a standard USB flash memory device that helps you to download new Filters from the ClearPlay website
DVD film or pre-recorded TV programme purchased or rented

Does ClearPlay work on DVD films I already own?

Yes, ClearPlay Filters work with most popular DVD films that you rent or buy, including those DVD films that you already own.

ClearPlay Filters have been designed to work with the original DVD films or television shows released from the studios. We cannot guarantee ClearPlay will work on disks you copy because the timing of the Skip and Mute events may be different.

A ClearPlay DVD player is a DVD player that has been manufactured with ClearPlay Technology. Upon purchasing a membership, the ClearPlay Technology allows you to use the ClearPlay Home Entertainment System.

ClearPlay Technology is integrated during the manufacturing process, and cannot be added to existing DVD players.

What is a ClearPlay Filter?

A ClearPlay Filter is a software Filter for your DVD films. Each DVD film has a custom Filter created just for it. When you play a DVD film in a ClearPlay DVD player with a ClearPlay Filter, objectionable content is omitted from viewing based on the ClearPlay Filter Settings.

What are the ClearPlay Filtering Categories?

The categories that we look to apply filtering to are as follows: Violence, blood, nudity, sex, offensive language, blasphemy, offensive content

How is a ClearPlay Filter made?

ClearPlay Filters are expertly created by a team of Filter Developers who watch the film and carefully mark the events that viewers might deem unsuitable. These ‘marks’ are recorded in the ClearPlay Filter Software so that the Filter will instruct the DVD player to Skip and or Mute an event as chosen by the viewer.

How can I access ClearPlay Filters?

ClearPlay Filters can only be obtained by ClearPlay Club Members. Members have unlimited access to all ClearPlay Filters, new and old via the website. Simply log in to your account and click on the "DOWNLOAD FILTERS" button. ClearPlay Filters can be stored on a ClearPlay FilterStik™ or another USB flash drive.

How often does ClearPlay create new Filters?

ClearPlay creates new ClearPlay Filters each week, including both new DVD releases as well as past favourites. Filters for the latest DVD releases are usually ready for download within 48 hours from the DVDs release date.

How can I request a new ClearPlay Filter?

ClearPlay welcomes requests. Our Filter Developers are continually working to fulfill most requests we receive.

How long does it take for each request to be completed?

ClearPlay adds new ClearPlay Filters each week, including both new DVD releases as well as past favourites. Filters for the latest DVD releases are usually ready for download within 48 hours from the DVD’s release date. The time it takes to complete individual requests will vary depending on the number of new releases at any one time.

How do you determine what DVD film content to mark in a ClearPlay Filter?

When a DVD film is identified for filtering we determine whether content might be deemed unsuitable or offensive to some people based on a database of content reported by viewers.

Does ClearPlay filter subtitles?

We do not Skip or Blank subtitles at this time, however, if there is not an English audio track, ClearPlay will use skips to filter the language in the subtitles.

If I lose my ClearPlay FilterStik™ what do I do?

Contact your Customer Service team via phone or email and we will arrange for a new ClearPlay FilterStik™ to be sent to you.

How much does it cost to become a member?

Membership starts from as little as €6 per month.

If you subscribe to the monthly Membership subscription service of €7, money will be taken monthly via a direct debit unless you unsubscribe one month in advance.

If you choose the €54 annual subscription, money will be taken annually until you unsubscribe.

If you choose to buy an annual Membership subscription it is possible to pay in monthly instalments of €6 per month, amounting to a total €72 per year.
